18Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.
I love reading James because of how it goes in depth about the topic of faith. Every time I read this verse, it invigorates me to strive after the fruits of the Spirit daily, because as James says,
27Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.
But despite this, I am held aback from godliness by my flesh which I struggle to kill daily; caring about anything, even my own life and wants, remains so irrelevant to me. Through prayer and supplication, I constantly ask the Almighty God for a passion for His glory, a passion that would overwhelm my fleshly disdain for myself and others.
